Clean up action in Kutaisi

On the occasion of World Water Day  the clean up action was held in Kutaisi Automobile Plant settlement on March 22. The event was organized by the regional coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia/ Friends of the Earth Georgia in Kutaisi and with support of local government.

 

During the action was cleaned up the shoreline section of  Olaskura river with an area of 0.5 hectares. The action was attended by 40 people, and about 2m3 of waste was collected.

Clean up action in Kobuleti

On  April 8, in the framework of the campaigns “Clean up Georgia” and “Blue Stream a clean up action was carried out in. Kobuleti.  The event was organized by the regional coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia/ Friends of the Earth Georgia in Adjara, during which the shoreline area of river Chakvistskali  has been cleaned up. The event was attended by 40 people,   about 7m3 of waste was collected and around 3 ha area were cleaned up.

The Contest “Clean Region” has been Aannounced in Georgia

At the initiative and organization of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia,  Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and with support of  the  Ministry of Justice of Georgia  a meeting  took place in connection with the announcement of the contest  “Clean Region ”  in the House of Justice as part of “Clean Up Georgia” campaign .

 

The contest “Clean Region” was first announced in Georgia within the framework of the campaign “Clean up Georgia” in 2015 and its purpose was to identify the most clean region, municipality and village. The winners of the 2015 competition were Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, Akhmeta municipality and village Chitakatskaro – Zugdidi municipality. This year, the competition is held for the second time.

 

In 2017, unlike previous competition  the contest  “Clean Region” will be held in six nominations, such as Clean City; Clean Street; Clean Region; Clean Municipality; Clean Village; Beautiful Yard.

 

During the meeting held in the House of Justice, Community  Centers of  Public Service Development Agency of the Ministry of Justice  in the regions were involved through direct connection : Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Imereti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Samegrelo –  Zemo Svaneti and Guria, Representatives of  regional organizations of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia and local coordinators of the project  “Clean up Georgia Phase III”  attended together with representatives of local authorities.

 

During the meeting  the manager of the project  “Clean up Georgia Phase III”  presented the results of  activities carried out in the regions within the framework of the project  as well as   planned activities  in this direction,   in which representatives of partner organizations also took part.

 

The regional representatives were  welcomed  by  Ms. Nino Chkhobadze – Co-Chair of the  Greens Movement / Friends of the Earth – Georgia;  Mr. Gigla Agulashvili – Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia: Mr. Alexander Baramidze-   Acting Minister of Justice; Representatives of  Swedish International Development Agency –  Ms.  Elsa Hastad – Assistant  Director General, Eurolatin, Sida;    Ms.Mirja Peterson –  Head of Division for Environment, Market Development and Eastern Europe, Sida;   Ms. Molly Lien – Head of Development Cooperation/ Deputy Head of Mission.

 

At the meeting Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection Mr. Gigla Agulashvili  announced the contest  “Clean Region”. Information about the terms of the competition will be distributed through social networks and sent to all regions. Summing up of received information will be made by the Greens Movement of Georgia . The winners will be nominated at the end of October and will be awarded.

Clean up action in Khoni municipality

At the initiative of  the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth Georgia a cleanup action was carried out in Khoni municipality. The event was carried out within the framework of the campaigns “Clean up Georgia” and “Blue Stream”, organized by the local coordinator.  On April 6, during  the action , the irrigation canal  and its banks were cleaned up.  The event has been attended by representatives of  local municipality, charity house and representatives of green space service.

Around 20  volunteers   cleaned up about 2 hectares of land and  collected 2 tons of waste.

Clean Up Action in Khobi Municipality

On March 22,  the World Water Day in  Khobi municipality  was marked with  clean up actions within the framework of the campaigns “Clean up Georgia” and “Blue Stream. ” The event has been organized by the local coordinator of Greens Movement of Georgia/ Friends of the Earth Georgia in cooperation with  local authorities.

During the action the shoreline of the  river  Khobistskali and  the central districts of the municipality were cleaned up.  About 1 hectare of land was cleaned up and around  10 m3 of waste was collected. Nearly  100 volunteers took part in this event, along with organizers the representatives of local residents  as well as local authorities.

World Water Day in Tskaltubo

On March 22, on the occasion of World Water Day the Greens Movement of Georgia with participation of  local authorities organized a clean up action  has been conducted within the framework of the campaigns “Clean up Georgia” and “Blue Stream” in Tskaltubo. The action took place in the surroundings of Tsivi  lake.

Nearly 20 people took part in this event,  approximately  0.7 m3 of waste was collected and around 1.5 ha area  has been  cleaned up.

Clean Up Action in Lagodekhi

April 23, on the occasion of Earth Day Week  a clean up action  was carried out   in Lagodekhi  Municipality in the framework of  “Clean-up Georgia” campaign. Within the scope of the action the centers of the villages  Apeni, Leliani and Heretis Kari  were cleaned up, along  with  central districts of Lagodekhi Municipality.

 

About 1.5  ha area has been cleaned up and  8m3 of waste were collected and taken to the landfill. Representatives of local population took part together with organizers. Around 150 volunteers participated in the action

“Earth Day” in Tsalka

“Earth Day” Week in  Tsalka municipality was marked by carrying out  clean up action  within the framework of the campaign “Clean Up Georgia.” The event was  organized by the  local coordinator of  the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth Georgia  with  participation of  municipality employees and ;local residents.

 

During  the action were cleaned up the  landfill neighborhood area at Tsalka  entrance,   center of village Trialeti, schoolyard  and its surrounding area in  village Bediani and  Gurianiskali road section.  Approximately 3 ha area was cleaned up,  300  bags of waste  were collected and around  250 persons  took part in the event.

Clean up action in Marneuli

In the  framework of “Clean Up Georgia”  campaign a  cleanup action was   carried out in Marneuli municipality,  organized by the regional  coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth Georgia, dedicated to the “Earth Day “ Week.

 

During the action has been  cleaned up the square and its surrounding area in  village Algeti . About 4 hectares of land has been cleaned up  and around 89 bags of waste were collected. Nearly, 50 people took part in the event.

 

In the action together with organizers  participated Chairman of Marneuli Sakrebulo and employees of local Cleaning Service and  various structural units, local population.

“Earth Day “ Week in Dmanisi municipality was marked with  cleanup action,  The event has been organized by the regional  coordinator of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth Georgia and carried out within the  framework of “Clean Up Georgia”  campaign.   In the action together with organizers participated Chairman of Dmanisi Council and employee of local Cleaning Service and  various structural units, local population.

 

During the action were  cleaned up  the neighborhoods of  village Pantiani.  About 4 hectares of land has been cleaned up  and around  8m3  of waste were  collected. Nearly, 400 people took part in the event.
