• “The Greens Movement of Georgia” became member of national platform; • A close collaboration has begun with the University of Bern in terms of sustainable use of natural resources in the South Caucasus; • The Climate weeks were held; • Campaign was launched against Tbilisi Bypass Railway to protect the interests of the population and the territories adjacent to the Tbilisi Sea; • Participation in the process of improving the legislative framework and public hearings continues, including : Developing and monitoring a national program to fight against desertification, discussing the legislative initiative on the protection and rational use of land resources and windbreaks; • A meeting about natural and technogenic disasters was held and conclusions were drawn; • Solid Municipal Waste Cleaning Actions continue in all regions of Georgia, including the Black Sea coast; • Cooperation with the European Secretariat, the Central Secretariat and separate groups of the “Friends of the Earth”, as well as other international organizations (WECF, CAN) continues; • Active participation in campaign against large hydro power plants continues (Oni, Khudoni, Namakhvani, Mestiachala-1, Mestiachala-2, Khedura-3, Sadmeli-Alpana and Khvanchkara-Alpana dam); • Relations renewed with the Global Forest Coalition - GFC (member since 2005); • Participated in meetings on the activities of potentially polluting enterprises; Lobbying and advocating for environmental impact assessment of these enterprises; • Round Table was held about Equal distribution of genetic resources at the 10th Meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (Japan, Nagoya); • Informational meetings were held with the population to protect the Black Sea from pollution; • Promoting the implementation of sustainable technologies (safe drinking water, eco-sanitation, renewable energy technologies) has begun; • Project Clean Up Georgia was launched (with financial support by the Swedish Government) and campaigns: Clean Up Georgia - Clean Up the World, “Blue Stream” (2010-2018); • Improved implementation of civil monitoring on the construction processes of hydropower plants; • A Leadership School was created to teach students environmental policy (2012-2018 graduate); • Monitoring of Tbilisi Landslide Zones (2012) was carried out; • Assessment of transboundary pasture management was made and relevant recommendations were prepared for the governments of Azerbaijan and Georgia, 2011; • Studies and monitoring of ongoing processes in Georgia's energy sector have been improved; • Solar water heaters and energy efficient stoves were installed, a biomass (wood waste) plant was put into operation; • Red List and other rare and endemic species have been identified; • Situational analysis of “Green economy development in Georgia” On the example of municipal solid waste recycling (Report prepared by Mr. P. Tsagareishvili); • A database of illegal landfills was created (within the frames of the project "Clean up Georgia") and an interactive map showing the location, quantity and volume of waste; • The Contest “Clean region” was founded (nominations: clean region, clean city/municipality, clean village, beautiful yard, clean street and beautiful balcony); • Thematic manuals and special journals were developed and published. Trainings for journalists on environmental issues were held; • Parliamentary Proposal on Ambient Air Condition (2018) was prepared for committee inquiry; • Participated in a meeting on climate change at the governmental level in Abkhazia (2015); • Lobbying the waste management code and participation in its public hearings; • Waste management plans were developed and adopted in municipalities; • Construction of the Gudamakari hydro power plant was suspended.

• According to the decision made at the first congress of the Ecological Association, an independent civil society organization - "The Greens Movement of Georgia" was created and its charter adopted (May 12, 1989); Today, the Greens Movement of Georgia is both a watchdog and a lobbying organization; • The first congress of the Greens Movement was held and "the Greens Movement of Georgia was officially established" (9-10 December ,1989); • At the meeting of the "Greens Movement of Georgia" decision was made to establish "The Greens Party of Georgia" (March 12, 1990); • Ms. Nana Nemsadze was elected as Chairperson of the organization at the Fifth Congress of "The Greens Movement of Georgia”, Mr. Zurab Zhvania - as the Honorary Chairman (15 January ,1995); • Earth Day was celebrated for the first time in Georgia (April 22, 1990); • The first issue of the newspaper "Earth" was released; • "The Economic Doctrine Theses of The Greens Movement of Georgia " was published (by Mr. D. Adeishvili, 1990); • "The Ecological Concept Theses of the Greens Movement of Georgia" was developed (by Mr. G. Tumanishvili, 1991); • "The Greens Movement of Georgia" was accepted as associate, later as a full member of "Friends of The Earth" (1991-1993); • The first environmental rallies were held ("No to Khudonhesi", "No to uncontrolled urban construction“ and "Protests Against Construction at Hippodrome"); • The first general Caucasian Seminar "Caucasus - Our Home" was held; • The first international meeting of non-governmental organizations was held in Batumi on the issues of protection of the Black Sea; • Actions were held against the fragmentation of agricultural lands, the construction of garages and the destruction of plant life, to protect gardens and windbreaks around the cities; • Actions "Farewell to arms" and "SOS Black Sea" was held with symbolic human chain; • A joint expedition was held with the Azerbaijanis on Mtkvari River To identify so called "hot spots"; • Campaign was held, demanding to ban or label GMO products; • raids were conducted by public to identify low-quality food in the markets; • A large-scale campaign has been launched, demanding Environmental Impact Assessment procedure for energy corridors (Baku-Supsa, Baku-Ceyhan, Baku-Shah Deniz); • A large-scale campaign has begun against the construction of hydroelectric power plants with dam in the basin of Chorokhi river in Turkey; • Campaigns " Against Dangerous Food Products", "Earth Week", "Protect The Black Sea", "Global Climate Change", "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy", "Biodiversity Conservation", "Protect Gardens and parks" were launched; • Work has begun in order to protect forests and soil; • Protest against environmental pollution by enterprises (problems caused by Kutaisi lithophone, Centrolite, Zestafoni ferroalloys, metallurgical and porcelain factories); • Organic farms were created; • Lobbying for the creation of national parks to preserve Georgia's unique ecosystems has begun; • Work has begun with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Environmental Protection Committee of The Parliament and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung on „The Law on Environmental Permit“ , which has led to the introduction of an EIA procedure in Georgia; • The concept of sustainable development of “The Greens Movement of Georgia” was adopted; • First civil forest monitoring was carried out; • By the initiative of “The Greens Movement of Georgia”, a non-governmental organization - Biological Farming Association "Elkana" was established; • With the support of Environmental Protection Committee of The Parliament and the Ministry of Environment Protection, import of waste to Georgia was stopped; • Article 37 has been introduced into the Constitution of Georgia by the initiative of “The Greens Movement of Georgia” and the Greens faction of Parliament; • A brochure on Artificial additives in food - "What does E numbers mean" has been translated and published; • Youth ecological camps was established; • The Resolution “On the Prohibition and Suspension of Construction in Parks, Gardens and Squares on the Territory of Georgia” was initiated in the Parliament of Georgia; • Trees were planted on the territory adjacent to the north-south gas pipeline to stop soil erosion;
